Kristin Neff and Christopher Germer are pioneers in the scientific development of self-compassion. They have brought their respective experience together in the empirically-supported Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) program and are providing a series of in-depth opportunities for people to immerse themselves in some of the key practices and exercises of the full 8-week program in an intensive 2-day format. Consider joining Kristin and Chris to learn from the leaders just how powerful and transformative the practice of self-compassion can be. CE credits are available for Mental Health Professionals, Nurses, and Teachers.

Self-compassion is an emotional skill that can be learned by anyone. You will be provided with essential tools for treating yourself in a kind, compassionate way whenever you suffer, fail, or feel inadequate. These practices can be instrumental to mental health practitioners both for their own self-care as well as helping clients. This workshop is relevant for the general public as well as practicing mental health professionals.
After participating in this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Practice self-compassion in daily life
  • Understand the science of self-compassion
  • Motivate yourself with kindness rather than criticis
  • Handle difficult emotions with greater ease
  • Manage caregiver fatigue
  • Practice the art of savoring and self-appreciation
  • Teach simple self-compassion exercises to clients

Program activities include talks, meditation, experiential exercises, and group discussion. Participants will directly experience self-compassion and learn practices that evoke self-compassion in daily life. No previous experience with mindfulness or meditation is required to attend the program.
