About Grand Rapids Center for Mindfulness
The Grand Rapids Center for Mindfulness is dedicated to teaching people how to use powerful mindfulness based tools to manage their stress and take responsibility for their own health and well-being. Our programs are based on the groundbreaking work of Jon Kabat-Zinn at the Center for Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center.
Our highly trained instructors are committed to practicing mindfulness in their own lives and teach from a deep understanding of the challenges and joys of living mindfully.
Supported by over 35 years of research, mindfulness has been shown to be an effective complementary treatment to many different areas of physical, mental and emotional health such as:
- Work Stress
- General Life Stress
- Chronic Illness and Pain
- Eating Difficulties
- Sleep Problems
- Gastro-Intestinal Distress
- Heart Disease and High Blood Pressure
- Post-Traumatic Stress
- Cancer Treatment and Recovery
- Focus and Attention
Our programs are designed to help you learn how to create a foundation of mindfulness. As a participant, you will learn how to practice mindfulness in a variety of ways and how to incorporate mindfulness into your everyday life. You will learn to pay attention mindfully to your thoughts, feelings and body sensations by using breathing practices, paying attention to the body in stillness and mindful movement such as walking and yoga, mindful eating, and practicing with routine activities whether at home or at work.
